Our Collective
The Food Truck Collective is an events company dedicated to the support and well-being of Auckland’s most promising street food businesses.
We are passionate about showcasing the best street kai in Auckland and the brilliant people behind the scenes. Talented chefs create a range of incredible, authentic, vibrant food that bursts with flavour in your mouth and leaves you wanting more every time. It’s our dream to connect people because being together is better.
Whether you’re in the mood for a Wipeout burger for breakfast or Brooklyn Dogs with mustard and cheese for lunch, you can watch your food being prepared right in front of your eyes.
Our experienced Auckland mobile food vendors have come to sell delicious food from their specially-crafted international menus. So, whether you’re visiting Auckland or you’re a local, bring your friends and family to grab a bite at our next event!
Humble Beginnings
Our founders, Timothy van der Werff and Maggie Gray, started a Dutch fries truck and mobile smoothie business, respectively, in 2015. It was a time when running a food truck in NZ and selling quality food was extremely difficult. Food trucks were still a relatively new concept in Auckland; unfortunately, people associated them with low-quality hot chips and hot dog vendors. We’ve made it our mission to change this perception.
We quickly became aware that only a few events were available during wintertime, and some of those events charged enormous rent payments. This made it quite challenging for food trucks in Auckland to offer their services. As a result, we decided to give it a go and organise our own street food event. We hired a warehouse in Kingsland, squeezed in several of our food truck comrades and amazingly, hundreds of people were lining out the door! We were amazed to see the people of Auckland come to support these owner-operated businesses and enjoy their unique menu offerings.
So we’ve made it our mission to revolutionise the industry by creating a fair commission based model that was welcomed by the food vendors - risky but worth the gamble!
